Volleyball Recap: Lakeside Starts Season with Win on the Road

Lakeside had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Statesboro Blue Devils by a score of 2-0. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lakeside never let Statesboro on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-18.

Shelby Smith paced Lakeside's offense, picking up ten kills. Smith got some help from Avery Miller and her 24 assists.

Coincidentally, Lakeside and Statesboro will both be playing South Effingham the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Blue Devils will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
