Pembroke is 1-8 against Notre Dame since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Pembroke is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Alexander 12-2 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dragons considering their two-run performance the game before.
Anthony Abbatiello was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Brayden Lang was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Pembroke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 12-4 win. The matchup marked the Fighting Irish's most dominant victory of the season so far.
Evan Fitzpatrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fitzpatrick was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Liam Berger looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Adyn Horzempa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Beachel, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Notre Dame's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Pembroke, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Notre Dame's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pembroke has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. It's a different story for Notre Dame, though, as they've only averaged .351. Will they be able to contain Pembroke's hitters?
