Wahoo is 4-0 against Ralston since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wahoo Warriors will be playing at home against the Ralston Rams at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Wahoo's favor as the squad sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Ralston has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, Wahoo rang in the new year with a 63-51 win over Lincoln Lutheran. Given Wahoo's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Lincoln Lutheran is ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wahoo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dylan Simons out in front who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Simons has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Marcus Glock was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Ralston pushed their score all the way to 64 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Malcolm.
Despite the loss, Ralston had strong showings from Deacon Courtney, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Davinchi Gray, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Winner Mutoke, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Ralston were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Wahoo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Ralston, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Wahoo have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Ralston struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 23.5 rebounds per game. Given Wahoo's sizeable advantage in that area, Ralston will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Wahoo against Ralston when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 93-55 victory. With Wahoo ahead 49-26 at the half, the match was all but over already.
