Swain County (Bryson City, N.C.) defeated
Murphy (N.C.) 36-27 on the strength of
Ray Smith, who tossed four touchdown passes.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Smith to
Kobe Toineeta in the second quarter, the Maroon Devils were up 19-14 at the half.
Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at five at the start of the fourth.
Swain County led by as many as 12 points before the Bulldogs cut into the final margin.
The loss comes after Murphy defeated Hayesville 55-13 last week.
