The Hopkins County Central Storm will take on the Trinity Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Hopkins County Central turned things around against Fort Campbell on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 13-6 victory.
Neilan Bruce was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jak Mitchell, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Trinity beat Fort Knox 9-4 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.
Grant Howard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Howard was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Trinity: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-14 otherwise.
In other batting news, Rylan Cecil and Cale Boarman did most of the damage at the plate: Cecil went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Boarman got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Boarman is becoming a predictor of Trinity's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 2-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Hernandez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Trinity's win bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Hopkins County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-18.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hopkins County Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trinity struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
