Baseball Recap: Arcadia Comes Up Short

If Arcadia was riding high fresh off their 9-1 takedown of Black River Falls on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-6 on Thursday. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 9-1.

Arcadia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Wegman, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Wegman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Carson Wozney, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Arcadia dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Black River Falls, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arcadia will face off against La Crosse Logan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Black River Falls, they will challenge Pittsville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
