The Kansas State High School Activities Association football playoffs will soon be underway.
The championship games for all eight classes are scheduled for Nov. 30 at several locations around the state.
Fischer Field Stadium in Newton will serve as the host site for Kansas' Division I and Division II 8-Player state title contests while the winner of the Class 6A state championship game will be determined at Emporia University's Welch Stadium.
Finalists in Class 5A will slug it out at Pittsburg State University's Carnie Smith Stadium, the winner of the 4A title hardware will be decided at Topeka's Hummer Sports Complex Football Stadium and state champion hopefuls in the 3A championship tilt will hit the turf at Gowans Stadium on the campus of Hutchinson Community College.
Salina USD 305 District Stadium is slated to be the host site for the Class 2A state championship battle while Fort Hays State University's Lewis Field will serve as the battle ground for the Class 1A championship slugfest.
Champions in 2018 include Derby (6A), St. Thomas Aquinas (5A), Bishop Miege (4A), Sabetha (3A), Phillipsburg (2A), Smith Center (1A), Claflin-Central Plains (8P DI) and Hanover (8P DII). Bishop Miege and Hanover will be attempting to win their sixth and fourth straight state championship titles respectively while Sabetha and Smith Center are going after three straight state championships each.
