There's no place like home for the Liberal Redskins, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Southwestern Heights 70-31 at home. With that win, Liberal brought their scoring average up to 52.3 points per game.
Liberal found their leader in underclassman Shamari Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Lewis is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Contreras, who scored 20 points along with five assists.
Southwestern Heights struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Liberal racked up 13 assists.
Liberal now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Southwestern Heights, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-2.
Liberal won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Holcomb at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. One thing working in Holcomb's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Southwestern Heights won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Meade at 7:00 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Meade focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
