Basketball Recap: Macon County Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Macon County entered their game against Taylor County on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Macon County Bulldogs took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Taylor County Vikings. The Bulldogs were up 19-5 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Despite the loss, Macon County still got an impressive performance from Morgan Cochran, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 boards. Cochran is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Towanna Cochran, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Taylor County was led to victory by Jaydah Ford and Alasia Montgomery. Ford almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, while Montgomery scored 22 points and three steals. That's the most points Montgomery has posted since back in December of 2023. Eliana Brown was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Macon County's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Taylor County, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Macon County has already played their next contest, a 43-37 loss against Manchester on the 8th. As for Taylor County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-34 win against Chattahoochee County on the 14th.
