The Wooster Generals will face off against the Strongsville Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Wooster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 491st, while the Mustangs are ranked 37th).
Wooster's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Mt. Vernon 53-49. That's two games in a row now that Wooster has lost by exactly four points.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tre Edwards, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ethan Shetler, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Wooster smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, even though Euclid scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Strongsville still came out on top. Everything went Strongsville's way against the Panthers as the Mustangs made off with a 83-60 win.
Wooster has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Strongsville, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3.
Wooster came up short against the Mustangs in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 76-67. Can Wooster avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
