After two games on the road, Middle Creek is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Athens Drive Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Middle Creek has not done well against Apex Friendship recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Middle Creek came out on top against Apex Friendship by a score of 62-55. The win was all the more spectacular given Middle Creek's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while Apex Friendship is ranked 153rd).
Yasir Hall and Greyson Land were among the main playmakers for Middle Creek as the former scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and the latter scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Hall has scored at least 25% of Middle Creek's points. Obataobie Okafor was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven blocks.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Athens Drive beat Fuquay - Varina 45-40 on Tuesday.
Middle Creek's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Athens Drive, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.
Middle Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Athens Drive in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory.
