AAA District 2 recap Sept. 26, 2012
South-Doyle moved up to 33 from 84 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAA District 2. The Cherokees were able to make the jump by beating Carter 23-0.
South-Doyle extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Hornets, 23-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for Clark Duncan's team.
The Cherokees' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brody Rollins threw for nine yards and Caleb Mitchell had 16 yards receiving. On the ground Jocquez Bruce chipped in 125 yards. Bruce helped South-Doyle's passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.
Seymour's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nick Sexton has thrown for 1041 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while DJ Griffin has 28 catches for 490 yards. Tanner Sise leads the league in rushing with 511 yards.
A big matchup in AAA District 2 this week will be when Seymour takes on Sevier County. At the moment, the Eagles are in second, while the Smoky Bears are in third.
South-Doyle took down Carter 23-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Bruce in the win.
