Hanks has gone 10-0 against Horizon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hanks Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Horizon Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. Horizon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hanks, who comes in off a win.
Hanks will head into Tuesday's game on the come-up: they were handed a 21-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bel Air, sneaking past 42-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since November 15, 2024.
Hanks' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daisy Fernandez led the charge by going 8 for 16 on her way to 21 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Anette Hernandez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Hanks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Horizon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost to Parkland on the road by a 41-24 margin.
Priscilla Rodriguez was Horizon's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Azul Rivera held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
Hanks has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hanks has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Horizon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Hanks against Horizon when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-16 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hanks since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
