The Lexington Minutemen were the 69-46 winner over the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Lexington fell just short of the Chiefs by a score of 57-54. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lexington came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Chiefs are ranked 557th).
Lexington's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Storm, who scored 20 points along with three steals, and Griffen Hari who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Storm is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Olson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Lexington's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, their victory bumped their record up to 7-17.
Lexington will be playing at home against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they will head out on the road to take on the Boilermakers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
