Kentlake and Beamer are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Falcons will take on the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kentlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Kentlake couldn't beat Decatur on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the first inning. The Falcons fell just short of the Golden Gators by a score of 9-8. The Falcons have struggled against the Golden Gators recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Riley Linnane was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Hi'Ilei Gomes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Natalie Brown also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 22 runs the game before, Beamer was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They lost 18-0 to Auburn Mountainview.
Beamer saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Asialynn Solia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.
Beamer has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Kentlake, their record now sits at 6-5.
Beamer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kentlake has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Beamer, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Kentlake's sizable advantage in that area, the Titans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Kentlake took their victory against Beamer when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
