Kearney is 10-0 against Winnetonka since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Kearney Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Winnetonka Griffins at 7:00 p.m. Kearney is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kearney beat Oak Park 50-45. The victory was all the more spectacular given Kearney's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Oak Park is ranked 78th).
Kearney's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alyssa Quick led the charge by scoring 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quick has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Bomar, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Winnetonka's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grandview.
Kearney's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Winnetonka, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
Kearney didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Winnetonka in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 41-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kearney since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
