Leading Modesto Christian to victory were Marcus Washington and Gavin Sykes. Washington scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Sykes scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Washington set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Another player making a difference was Ross Widemon, who scored ten points along with seven assists.
St. Mary's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Modesto Christian, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
St. Mary's will take on West at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 327th, while St. Mary's is ranked 46th). As for Modesto Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Tracy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tracy has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
