The McGregor Mercuries lost to the Cook County Vikings back in January of 2023, but the McGregor Mercuries didn't allow the Cook County Vikings the same satisfaction on Friday. McGregor came out on top against Cook County by a score of 61-49.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Denali Blackwell, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rohan Rude, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
McGregor's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Cook County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
McGregor will head out on the road to face off against Barnum at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Barnum presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than McGregor in Minnesota (Barnum is ranked 181st, while McGregor is ranked 389th). As for Cook County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against South Ridge at 6:30 p.m.
