The Lawrenceville Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Dieterich 74-50. Winning may never get old, but Lawrenceville sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Leading Lawrenceville to victory were Maddox Pargin and Bryant Jenkins. Pargin dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds, while Jenkins dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Jenkins' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Landon Sanders, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Dieterich still got an impressive performance from Caleb Gephart, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Gephart scored a full 38% of Dieterich's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Westendorf, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Dieterich were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lawrenceville only pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Lawrenceville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Dieterich, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.
Lawrenceville will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Clay/Clay City on January 9, 2024. As for Dieterich, they will head out on the road to face off against Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
