The Metuchen Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Dunellen Destroyers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Metuchen unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They were dealt a 77-41 defeat at the hands of Monroe Township.
Meanwhile, Dunellen's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Sayreville by a score of 40-30. Given Dunellen's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Sayreville is ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dunellen found their leader in underclassman Wendy Woll, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Woll has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Chalecki, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Metuchen's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Dunellen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Metuchen against Dunellen in their previous meeting on Monday as the squad secured a 53-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Metuchen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
