After a string of three wins, the Denver Academy Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were dealt a 91-60 loss at the hands of Clear Creek. Denver Academy has struggled against Clear Creek recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Denver Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Nolan Monasch and Riley Allen. Monasch scored 26 points along with five assists, while Allen scored 21 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 43.3% of Denver Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Henry Stettner, who scored six points.
Collin Hendrickson was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 35 points and 20 rebounds for Clear Creek. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hendrickson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler O'Brien, who scored 29 points along with two steals.
Denver Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Clear Creek, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Denver Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Cripple Creek-Victor at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Clear Creek, they will head out on the road to challenge SkyView Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. SkyView Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
