FARMERSVILLE, Calif. -
Farmersville (Calif.) beat McFarland (Calif.) 70-0 on the strength of
Sam Metcalf, who tossed six touchdown passes.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Metcalf to
Joseph De La Cruz in the first quarter, the Aztecs led 60-0 at the half.
Farmersville grew its lead to 63 points entering the fourth quarter. FHS's lone score in the quarter came on a field goal by
Joel Tapia.
Metcalf and De La Cruz were an excellent passing duo during the game. De La Cruz caught three touchdowns and Metcalf threw six. De La Cruz has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Metcalf has thrown 42.
Farmersville's standout player in the win was Metcalf. The junior quarterback threw six touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
Farmersville has had a tough season, allowing 34.0 points per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, FHS came away with a 43-7 victory.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Aztecs, who lost to Mission Prep last week, 68-51.
In a East Sierra game next week Farmersville (6-3) takes on Orosi, and McFarland (1-8) will go up against Orange Cove also in a East Sierra game.
