PUEBLO WEST, Colo. -
Pueblo West (Colo.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 10 in Colorado, but was stunned by
Montrose (Colo.), 23-14. Montrose was ranked at No. 19 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Colorado coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a
Kameron Devincentis touchdown pass to
Ira Wooten in the first quarter, the Indians led 10-8 at the half.
Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at two at the start of the fourth.
Montrose led by as many as 10 points before the Cyclones cut into the final margin.
MHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 22-21.
The loss comes after Pueblo West defeated Rampart 27-6 last week. The loss broke Pueblo West's two-game winning streak. The win brought Montrose's winning streak to four games.
