San Juan is a perfect 10-0 against Monticello since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Broncos are taking a road trip to challenge the Buckaroo at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (San Juan has seven straight victories, Monticello has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, San Juan made easy work of Bayfield and carried off a 13-3 win. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Jake Ivins made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, San Juan got a massive performance out of Branten Bethea, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Bethea is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Cooper Palmer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
San Juan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Monticello couldn't beat Grand County on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Buckaroo came up short against the Red Devils, falling 17-7.
San Juan's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
San Juan took their victory against Monticello when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
