Austin Poulsen and Serjio Chavez provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Round Mountain. The longest such play in IV Southern (8 Man) this season, the connection resulted in 73 yards.
Pahranagat Valley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Knights, 50-12. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Poulsen and Tyler Higbee gave Pahranagat Valley a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Poulsen threw for 226 yards and four touchdowns, while Higbee ran for 217 yards. Teammate Wade Leavitt added to the ground attack by rushing for 36 yards.
Marcus Thomas provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Spring Mountain beat Sandy Valley. He completed five passes for 150 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 190 yards. Thomas' favorite target this week was Dwayne James, who caught two passes for 73 yards.
Poulsen made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Panthers bested Round Mountain. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed three interceptions.
Matt Swaving was the best wideout in the league this week as the Sidewinders fell to the Eagles. Swaving tallied two receptions for 86 yards. Jerremy Hall helped Sandy Valley's passing attack out by catching one ball for 60 yards.
Pahranagat Valley's Poulsen and Mason Stirling have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading IV Southern (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Poulsen has thrown for 916 yards this season, while Stirling, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 18 catches for 374 yards. Tonopah's Seth Littlefield leads the league in rushing yards with 1012.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Sandy Valley and Beatty. Brett Kramer's team comes into the matchup ranked 12th in the state, while the Hornets ranks 15th.
Spring Mountain took down the Sidewinders 60-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Thomas in the win.
