Tidehaven is 8-2 against Rice Consolidated since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Tidehaven is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Tidehaven will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Industrial on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cobras with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cobras: they've now won four in a row.
Kailea Freeman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Tidehaven got a massive performance out of Kayleigh Nash, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Payge Mayo was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Tidehaven kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Rice Consolidated was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to Yoakum, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Rice Consolidated saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Torres, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Tidehaven's win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Rice Consolidated, their loss dropped their record down to 1-21.
Rice Consolidated's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Tidehaven has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Rice Consolidated, though, as they've been averaging only 2.3 strikeouts. Will Tidehaven keep running through batters, or will the Raiders buck the trend?
Tidehaven took their victory against Rice Consolidated in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 24-7 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
