The Mount Miguel Matadors extended their postseason success on Friday against the Chula Vista Spartans. They blew past the Spartans 35-14. Mount Miguel might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Mount Miguel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Barton, who threw for 214 yards and five touchdowns. Jeremiah Castillo was another key contributor, picking up 88 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Chula Vista lost, one person who can't be blamed is La'Darrione Perkins. Despite the final result, he rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
The victory was the eighth in a row for Mount Miguel, bringing their record for this year to 12-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.3 points per game. As for Chula Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Mount Miguel will head out on the road to face off against Mayfair at 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Mayfair is on a three-game streak of home wins, Mount Miguel a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Chula Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
