The Scarsdale Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Eastchester Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Scarsdale has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 1st.
On Friday, Scarsdale came up short against Rye and fell 7-3.
Scarsdale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was L. Zoland, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastchester, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Byram Hills get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Sarah Mascia tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Eastchester let Alyssa Peduto and Sophia Gutirrez run wild. Peduto fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4, while Gutirrez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two home runs gave Peduto a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angelina Recine, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Eastchester lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Eastchester's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Scarsdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.
Scarsdale might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Eastchester in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
