Marion-Franklin is 1-9 against South since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Marion-Franklin Red Devils will head out on the road to take on the South Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Marion-Franklin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
After a string of three wins, Marion-Franklin's good fortune finally ran out. They fell 59-52 to West.
The losing side was boosted by Terry Black, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Neko Tuff, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, South gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Eastmoor Academy 71-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win South has posted against Eastmoor Academy since January 17, 2020.
Chris Stokes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 32 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Maurice Mccall was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Marion-Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Marion-Franklin hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.2 points per game. However, it's not like South struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Marion-Franklin ended up a good deal behind South when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 61-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stokes, who scored 19 points. Now that Marion-Franklin knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
