The Eno River Bobcats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They snuck past Excelsior Classical Academy with a 55-50 victory.
Eno River got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Corey Amyot out in front who scored 15 points along with two steals. Amyot is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Manning, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Excelsior Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Hunter Goss, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Goss hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Tyler Hill, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Eno River's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-10.
Eno River will take on Oxford Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxford Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eno River in North Carolina (Oxford Prep is ranked 308th, while Eno River is ranked 651st). As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Voyager at 7:15 p.m. Voyager knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Excelsior Classical Academy likes a good challenge.
