It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Warren Central Vikings had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Saltillo at home to the tune of 46-19. The win was familiar territory for Warren Central who now have seven in a row.
Eric Collins Jr. was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Collins Jr. really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Aden Greer was another key contributor, rushing for 55 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Warren Central's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Columbus and 3-7 Ridgeland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34% over those games). As for Saltillo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Warren Central will take on Grenada at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grenada is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Saltillo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
