Pierce is 0-10 against Colusa since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bears will host the RedHawks at 4:00 p.m. Pierce has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Pierce is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Durham, falling 11-2.
Pierce saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica Hagle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Colusa hadn't done well against East Nicolaus recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The RedHawks never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the RedHawks have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
East Nicolaus' batters probably weren't too happy with Ava Garcia, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up two walks).
At the plate, Braelyn Santana was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Abril Guzman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Colusa's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Pierce, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pierce has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Colusa struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pierce might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Colusa in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Bears have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
