After flying high against the Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans last Friday, The West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars came back down to earth. West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] was dealt a 59-13 loss at the hands of Camp Point Central on Friday. West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-0.
Despite the loss, West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] still got an impressive performance from Conner Turner, who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Camp Point Central was led to victory by Wyatt Schemerhorn and Jack Thompson. Schemerhorn rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns, while Thompson gained 163 total yards and a touchdown. Thompson's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.
West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs]'s defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Camp Point Central, their victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] will head out on the road to face off against Salt Fork at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Salt Fork will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Camp Point Central, they will be playing at home against Red Hill at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Red Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Camp Point Central is ranked 80th).
