Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Claremont's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Claremont unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Chino Hills Huskies. The Wolfpack were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Claremont started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-18.

Leading Chino Hills to victory were Sean Spicer and Daniel Barker. Spicer had 20 kills, three aces, and one block, while Barker had 19 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Barker has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cam Smith, who had nine kills and six blocks.

Claremont's defeat dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Chino Hills, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10.

Claremont and Chino Hills should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Wolfpack will take on Rancho Cucamonga at 4:45 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (112 vs. 272). Meanwhile, Chino Hills (ranked 209th) will meet Damien (ranked 617th) at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
