After three games on the road, Camden County is heading back home. They will take on the Valdosta Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Camden County gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Richmond Hill 60-38. Given Camden County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Wildcats are ranked 360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elyiss Williams was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Williams is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Antwann Brown was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Valdosta came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged Lowndes out 50-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Valdosta has posted since November 20, 2023.
Valdosta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Israel Jenrette, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Jenrette is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jabarri Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.
Camden County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Valdosta, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Camden County beat the Wildcats 57-49 in their previous matchup back in January. Does Camden County have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
