The Clover Eagles will face off against the Westside Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Clover's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Westside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Clover took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Northwestern. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Christian Soder looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Clover's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Briggs Lessmeister, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Clover: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Aiden Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westside). They put the hurt on Laurens with a sharp 11-1 win last Friday. The Rams not only won last Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2025 (when they won 15-0).
Westside also got a great performance from Colter Crosby as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, Crosby posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three contests.
On the hitting side, Jacob Holmes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Christian, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Clover is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for Westside, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
