Clearwater hasn't had much luck against Seminole recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tornadoes will look to defend their home field against the Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clearwater 3.7, Seminole 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Clearwater's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Anclote. The victory continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now won four in a row.
Eduardo Alfredo made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Alfredo wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ty Woodring, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Jackson King was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Seminole was able to grind out a solid win over Mitchell on Friday, taking the game 5-0.
Like Clearwater, Seminole also got a great game from a two-way player: Mack McGinnis. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. McGinnis was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Patrick Mazzei, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
Clearwater's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Seminole, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Clearwater has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seminole struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
