Baseball Recap: Calhoun Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Calhoun had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Grace Church School Griffins as they made off with a 9-3 victory. Considering the Cougars have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Quentin Ruffin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Ruffin was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Ruffin wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ian Abramson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another was Luka Stache, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Calhoun's win bumped their record up to 5-2-1. As for Grace Church School, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Calhoun will challenge Trevor Day at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Grace Church School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
