In what's become a running theme this season, the Battle Spartans gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They blew past Southern Boone 76-39 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-10.
Battle was led to victory by Vernell Holt and Tate Mccubbin. Holt scored 21 points along with five rebounds, while Mccubbin almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keyion Cross, who scored eight points.
Battle has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Southern Boone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Battle will take on Helias at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Battle is coming into the match with 12 straight wins at home, meaning Helias will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. Southern Boone will take on Hallsville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
