Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Leland Chargers walked away with it. They snuck past Overfelt with a 24-20 win on Friday. 24 seems to be a good number for Leland as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Leading Leland to victory were Jacob Gibson and Luke Whitson. Gibson threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns, while Whitson picked up 241 receiving yards and a touchdown. Whitson was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 67 yards.
The victory makes it two in a row for Leland and bumps their season record up to 4-7. As for Overfelt, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.
Leland is on the road again on Friday and play against South San Francisco at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. South San Francisco is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games. Overfelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
