Kennedy Catholic fell victim to Tahoma and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Bears. The loss continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost four in a row.
Kennedy Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Mowat, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Kentwood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Auburn on Tuesday. The Conquerors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans an 11-0 shutout. The Conquerors not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2024.
Gabby Greenwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two triples. Those triples marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kendyl Toeaina, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Sofia Mottern Salinas, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
The win made it two in a row for Kentwood and bumps their season record up to 2-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Kennedy Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Kentwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kennedy Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. It's a different story for Kentwood, though, as they've only averaged .361. Will they be able to contain Kennedy Catholic's hitters?
