Whitehall hasn't had much luck against Augusta recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Beavers at 5:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, Whitehall didn't have quite enough to beat Melrose-Mindoro and fell 9-8.
Regan Clatt made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addison Herman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
Meanwhile, while Augusta put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Osseo-Fairchild. The Beavers were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Thunder. Considering the Beavers have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Laney O'Brien made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 games.
O'Brien wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Haley Strauch, who went 1-for-4 with three runs. That's the most runs Strauch has posted since back in May of 2025.
The victory made it two in a row for Augusta and bumps their season record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Whitehall, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Whitehall suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Augusta in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
