A feisty cat fight will be fought as Lawrence County Cougars take on Sumrall Bobcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lawrence County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Raymond on Thursday as Lawrence County made off with a 20-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Laicie Bridges made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bridges was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with six RBI, one triple, and one run. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Adaya Ball was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Erika Lambert was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Lawrence County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, while Sumrall put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Columbia. Sumrall blew past Columbia 14-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won eight in a row.
Avery Smith looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Robertson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taniya Preston, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Lawrence County's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Sumrall, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lawrence County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Sumrall struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
