The Atlantic Sharks's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past University 64-33 at home. Given Atlantic's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while University is ranked 438th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Atlantic found their leader in underclassman Madelyn Johnson, who scored 22 points along with 3 steals. Johnson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Essence Johnson, who scored 7 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals.
Atlantic's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for University, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atlantic will face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. University's road trip will continue as they head out to face New Smyrna Beach at 6:00 p.m. on December 6th.
