Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Yorktown Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots on Tuesday. Yorktown has struggled against the Patriots recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Lilly Sylvester and Jayde Garrett certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Sylvester scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Garrett almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Olivia Conklin, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Jay County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Molly Muhlenkamp, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Muhlenkamp continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sophia Saxman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Yorktown's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Jay County, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-2.
Yorktown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jay County's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Delta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Thursday.
