The Savannah Country Day Hornets's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They managed a 54-49 victory over Hilton Head Prep. The victory was just what Savannah Country Day needed coming off of a 55-33 loss in their prior contest.
Leading Savannah Country Day to victory were Rudy Anderson and Robert Spaulding iv. Anderson scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Spaulding iv scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The game was Spaulding iv's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Stone Wells, who scored seven points.
Hilton Head Prep's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ben Frey, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds, and Jason Britschge who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Billy Barron, who scored ten points.
Savannah Country Day's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for Hilton Head Prep, they bumped their record down to 9-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Savannah Country Day won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Frederica Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 6th. Frederica Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Savannah Country Day in Georgia (Frederica Academy is ranked 116th, while Savannah Country Day is ranked 317th). As for Hilton Head Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beaufort Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
