The Bozeman Bucks will square off against the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Bozeman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Freeport a 6-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Bucks in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.
Not much got past Avery Obert, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Freeport off the board. Obert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bozeman got a big performance out of Presley Thomason, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Thomason has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Morris, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, North Bay Haven Academy came tearing into Tuesday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won 15 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Addison Mallon and Ally Brady made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mallon kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Brady pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Mallon went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Brady got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kaylee Goodpaster was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. McKenzie Goff was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
North Bay Haven Academy's win bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Bozeman, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bozeman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like North Bay Haven Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bozeman might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from North Bay Haven Academy when the teams last played back in April. Can the Bucks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
