The Walnut Mustangs entered their tilt with the South Hills Huskies with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Walnut breezed by the Huskies at home to the tune of 73-32 on Tuesday. Given Walnut's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Huskies are ranked 825th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nathan Yen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Fluker III, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Walnut pushed their record up to 20-7 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for South Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.
Walnut will be playing in front of their home fans against the Conquerors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Los Altos knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 games -- so hopefully the Mustangs likes a good challenge. As for South Hills, they will head out on the road to challenge the Brahmas at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
