The First Academy Royals's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against Bishop Moore by a score of 67-58. The victory was just what The First Academy needed coming off of a 70-46 defeat in their prior game.
Lorenzo De jesus continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Simmons, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Bishop Moore's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Suarez, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cameron Codio, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
The First Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Bishop Moore, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The First Academy will take on Lake Gibson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Gibson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 349th, while The First Academy is ranked 128th). Bishop Moore on the road again on Monday and play against Lake Mary at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Lake Mary is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
