Design Tech extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 8-5 in the process. They put the hurt on the KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack with a sharp 14-6 victory. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.
Ella Lewis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Jeneva Fletcher was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got four or more in each of the last three games she's played. Sarah Todd was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Design Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive games.
As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, their record now sits at 1-4. They haven't had much luck with Design Tech recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
On KIPP San Jose Collegiate's side, Samantha Ibanez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Ibanez's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dulcemaria Monroy, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Design Tech will take on rival Summit Shasta at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, KIPP San Jose Collegiate is set to face off against their familiar foe El Primero at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
